Pleased to Report

Within a week of ordering my first RedBubble cards, they have arrived and I'm delighted with the quality.
Both the 6"x4" cards and the very generous 5"x7.5" cards are printed on 300gsm card with a satin finish.
The inside of each card has a beautiful smooth matt surface, wonderful for writing on.

The quality of the printing is excellent. A few weeks ago I ordered some 5"x7"photo-cards from a large Australia-wide electrical/furniture retailer. With this retailer I had to order a batch of 20 of the same photo card to make the cost reasonable. The print quality and card finish of the RedBubble cards is far superior. I can highly recommend RedBubble whether you are thinking of uploading and ordering some of your own photo cards (you can list your photos as "private" and no one else can see them), purchasing those of others or a mix of both as I did.

For those who are curious (like me) this is what the back of a RedBubble card looks like - your photo title, your chosen name, and the address to your RedBubble profile page.

I can see I'll be ordering some more to use and give as gifts.
:)

I Was Looking....

I was looking for flowers and found a fly.

I was looking for raindrops and found dewdrops.

In search of more butterflies.....

I found bumblebees.

In hope of a colourful sunset

I stumbled on a flock of noisy corellas.

There's more to life than endless searching, let's rest in Whom and what we find along the way.

Glimpses of the Future, Whispers of the Past.

Yesterday was Master J's first "Training in Flight" lesson at a regional airport. Once well up in the air he was given the controls for a while before handing back to the instructor for landing.

All that hard schoolwork has to be for something worthwhile! My husband loved being there to see him fly, I'm pleased I sent him with a camera!

Made by a friendly dressmaker, I designed my wedding dress, bought the fabrics, lace and beads, and hand-beaded the lace.  I still consider it beautiful, like our marriage, after 22 years.

Light and Colour

Taken using my Canon DSLR with Raynox super macro conversion lens
                                                                                                                                           Available for purchase here

My faithful Lumix accompanied me over the bridge and back again this evening. I watched and walked as the colours changed from deep gold to pinky reds. God paints the skies beautifully, even when we're too busy to notice. Light and colour, two great joys in life. As I snapped away, absorbed in the changing light and colour, my Lumix clocked over 30,000 shots (in just over 2 years) and I am grateful, again.

Having a close look...

                                                                                                                                    Available for purchase here

 a quick snack...

                                                                                                                                            Available for purchase here

.....or hanging around to enjoy the view, just wanted to let you know I've set up a RedBubble shop so you (and me) and anyone interested can order cards and prints of my favourite photos.

Some of you are quite familiar with RedBubble, even having your own shop with them. I'm still figuring out the details but like what I have found so far. RedBubble's headquarters are in Australia but they produce their products on several continents to help keep shipping costs low and delivery times short.

Another bonus is that if you order any 8 cards of the same size (any design or artist) you receive a 20% discount on that size. If you order 16 cards of the one size you qualify for a 30% discount on that size. You can also adjust the currency as you shop but the final prices will be calculated at checkout according to which country you are ordering from (adding any GST/taxes etc).

Hope I haven't confused you.....go and have a look and see what you think, I would love to have your honest feedback. My RedBubble name is SunshineKaren - all one word.

PS If you have a favourite photo from my blog which isn't yet available, please ask, I'd be more than happy to add it. I'll endeavour to include a little "Available for purchase here" linked caption under photos I've added to RedBubble to make it easier for all of us. Enjoy!
PSS you will even find the odd photo which isn't on my blog....

At the End of the Rainforest

Our littoral rainforest walk brings us out at the beach and a rocky headland.

This day the children headed straight for the tidal rock pools to see what was to be found.

A couple of sea cucumbers as seen from above. Thankfully no one wanted to pick them up.

Looking around the headland to Main Beach.

Many interesting rock formations surround the headland.

Back "home" in time for a play in the sand along the bay and to enjoying a beautiful sunset.

Down By the Sea: Part 2

                                                                                                                                       Available for purchase here

I hope you enjoyed our stroll through the littoral (close to the sea) rainforest in my previous post. When we started out on our walk I was expecting to see amazing birds, lizards, wallabies and other animals. With my telephoto lens on my new DSLR I was ready, but as we walked we began to realise there were virtually no animals to be seen. I had quickly taken a few photos of some fungi and tried to keep up with the family.

About half way along the track my husband pointed out this tree stump. "Just more moss" I thought. Then on closer inspection I found two tiny white dots - can you see them? (At around 5 o'clock and 10 o'clock on the stump clock face). At this point I changed my focus. I suggested the rest of the family go ahead so I could change lenses and have some time to more closely investigate what was present and not what I had hoped to find.

                                                                                                                     Available for purchase here

There were two even smaller light brown fungi, so tiny and sweet. I really enjoyed the rest of my walk and caught up with the family at the beach. That night I kept thinking about a couple of fungi finds I had quickly tried to snap earlier in the walk. The next day I decided to venture back into the rainforest by myself to take time and really appreciate them.

                                                                                   Available for purchase here

This little red one was fresh and new this next day, a tiny little treasure about 1/4" across.

These beauties were growing on the side of a fallen log, so delicate.

I love the contrast in colours.

Another stump yielded another kind of fungi when I examined it closely.

I had nearly completely overlooked these special little creations in my search for the bigger, bolder targets. Next time I have opportunity I'll walk the rainforest again with a much more receptive heart and mind, being prepared to change my focus and lens and take my time to truly look and listen. A lesson I can apply to much in life......

So what was at the end of the rainforest? See here...
